Don\u2019t let the promise of summer end in tragedy.\u00a0 Whether it\u2019s young adults using prom and graduation as a launch pad to the beach, or families loading their cars for long-awaited vacations, summertime is a catalyst for lifelong memories.\u00a0 However, summer is also one of the deadliest times of the year on our highways.<\/p>\n
On land and on the water, there are measures you can take to ensure safe and happy times instead of sadness.\u00a0 First, plan ahead.\u00a0 If alcohol is part of your plan, a designated driver, a taxi, Uber, public transportation or a designated non-drinking driver should be as well.\u00a0 As a parent, talk to your children about the dangers of alcohol.\u00a0 Set a good example too.\u00a0 And that goes for friends as well.<\/p>\n
General car safety should be part of the plan too.\u00a0 Wear your seatbelt.\u00a0 Don\u2019t speed.\u00a0 And for young drivers, don\u2019t travel with too many passengers in the car with you.\u00a0 Whether it\u2019s a friend or a text, distracted driving is dangerous.<\/p>\n
Boating is often left out of the conversation.\u00a0 But many of the same rules apply.\u00a0 The most important one concerns alcohol.\u00a0 If you\u2019re going to operate a boat, don\u2019t drink.\u00a0 It\u2019s illegal\u2026 but more importantly, it\u2019s deadly dangerous.<\/p>\n
Following a few simple rules can make your summer one to remember\u2026 for all the right reasons.<\/p>\n
